Day One of the Challenge:

Nutrition:
Breakfast - not a good start...
1 cup Activia Lemon yogurt and 3/4 cup granola (homemade with honey) - oops. Sugar, sugar.
Lunch:
Pete's small salad - mixed greens, carrots, parmesan, kidney beans, tomatoes, broccoli, jalapeno peppers, sesame oil and vinegar dressing. Frankly? YUCK
Dinner:
stir fry of beef strips (peppered) with bok choy, broccoli, onions, cubanelle peppers, mushrooms

Drank lots and lots of water - no snacks.

Exercise - too many meetings today, the last one ending at 8 p.m. But walked everywhere and climbed stairs where they were needed. Walked 4.7 km. It's a start.

Day Two:
Breakfast - plain yogurt (yuck) with sticks and twigs. Humph. Or nuts, if you want to call them that.
Lunch - leftover beef stir-fry
Snack - green tea - jeez, that stuff really should be banned. Like drinking paint thinner.
Dinner - chicken breast oven baked in salsa; lots and lots of veggies, carrots, broccoli and the like.
There might have been a glass of wine in there. oops

Exercise - sadly caved. The diet is relatively easy, except for the lack of chocolate, but the exercise is going to be hard. Ever since I got back from Africa, I've had allergy problems and a bladder infection, so it's hard to get the energy. MUST start tonight - walking is not going to be enough!! YOU CAN DO THIS, YOU CAN DO THIS, YOU CAN DO THIS.... who is that speaking in my head???

Day Three.

Breakfast - plain yogurt with nuts. Got to find some of the chocolate Stevia that was discussed on FB. Didn't have it at Superstore. I used to like plain yogurt - now, not so much.
Lunch - leftover chicken cooked in salsa with vegetables.
Snack - handful of roasted almonds
Dinner - flash fried super thin pork chops (lean) with spinach and tomato salad, toasted sesame dressing (no sugar)

Exercise:
Still a bust because this darned bladder infection is worse and I'm hobbling now. Dr. appointment is next.

Feel very, very tired.

And a bit discouraged because of the exercise thing - but I WILL get to it and I WILL lose the weight.

Day Four:

Working from memory - kind of lost the thread and haven't posted daily. Must remember to do it daily, or I won't remember!!!
Breakfast:
Scrambled eggs and chicken bacon - tastes like bologna! I kind of like it...
Lunch:
Leftovers from last night, warmed up - pork with veggies
Snack:
Cake! Oops....it was someone's birthday at the office, seemed mean to refuse...
Dinner:
raw vegetables with chicken slices - wasn't really hungry, the cake shot my insulin up, I think, had a headache

Exercise:
Walking - just walking - and not as far as I should have - just under 3K

Monday, October 5: Day 8 - or really Day 1 AGAIN (redux?)

Breakfast:
Yogurt with nuts and seeds
coffee, black
humble pie when I looked at the scale

Weigh-in: I weigh in at the office because I don't have scales at home. Strangely enough, even with the disaster of a week last week, I lost 2 pounds! 2.3 actually. Very strange.

Lunch:
leftover chicken and beans from last night

I have choir practice all evening tonight, so I will exercise by taking an extra long walk at lunch time. I've promised myself 5 k.

Dinner:

Epic fail again.
Haven't been following anything for a week. Haven't been on a binge, nor have I gone carb crazy. Just not exercising and not journaling.
How many do-overs does a person get in one life? I'm the queen of do-overs and I'm going to do it again this week. Back to Week 1. Again. Still struggling with this infection, which makes me nauseous and causes back aches, but I have to do something now.

Breakfast:
Granola and yogurt. This is my daily "cheat" - I just can't do the plain yogurt with nuts. I do granola and something that has nothing artificial in it - today it's Astro coconut yogurt. It fills me up and satisfies me in a way that helps me just go on.
