Carb Limit Question

Post by HollyA on Mon Jan 19, 2015 12:50 am

Hello,

I have a carb limit of 23 grams per day this week, but as a vegetarian, even the high protein sources (i.e. tofu, cottage cheese) have carbs. How bad is it to go over that 23 gram per day if I'm using the high protein sources? Right now with breakfast (vega protein powder, 1 tbsp of almond butter, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, spinach, ice), lunch (1/4 package of tofu, salad greens w/veggies, low/no sugar dressing), snack (plain greek yogurt with 1/4 cup unsalted nuts and chocolate stevia powder), and dinner (veggie burger patty with steamed broccoli and brussel sprouts roasted in a tbsp of olive oil), I'm sitting at about 40-60 grams of carbs. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Holly.

Hey Holly,

Are you including your veggies in your totals? Bc you dont have to if they are in the list of free veggies in the nutrition guide! Also you can use net carbs for your threshold (Carbs - fiber). Looking at your list above (and I'm just using what I have in my house and find quickly online for the nutritional info) I see breakfast being around 6g, lunch around 1g, snack around 6 g, and dinner around 8-10g. Of course this will vary slightly depending on the brands and whatnot but that totals up around 23 g!
